The auto-focus system is fast and quiet.

I agree, the XF 14 has the edge, but there's always a conflict between that and the zoom (what's most appropriate at the moment). For wide field astro the 10-24 loses, but for night street it's a toss up (OIS may compensate for the f/4) I did a quick google search on "XF 10-24 vs" and got a page of hits that include the 14mm. . .
