Its because the turbo can get very very hot if the car is used for longer runs at quite high speed, if the turbo is not allowed to cool down before the engine is stopped the oil in its bearings will burn and become deposited carbon that ruins the bearings if done on a regular basis.

I currently drive a new model ceed 1.6 crdi 126/8 which i enjoy , the only downside is it is the eco model and has high gearing which makes it feel a bit lethargic. i am so glad the ceed gt has a turbo pushing 200 bhp - BUT WHAT KIA NEED IS A TURBO FITTED TO THE 1.4 SHOVING OUT 140/150 BHP. The turbo blew up. Bang, smoke, rattling. Replaced. Then it will limit itself to 3000rpm whenever it wanted to. And no errors on the computer. And now, it looks like if there was a small delay introduced when the turbo activates, to prevent it happening. In any case, getting rid of the car because of nightmare KIA service and behavior.

If the Kia Cee'd 1.6 crdi is anything like Hyundai's 1.6 crdi which I think it is then it's an extreamly reliable engine! The fleet of Hyundai's we have (all 1.6 crdi's) get absolutely hammered (999 response vehicles ) & I can't think of any problems we have with the actual engine! The rest of the car is abit cheap & meh but the engine is solid.
